Place the device on a flat surface like a table and then insert your non-dominant hand over it and then close the wrist strap. Insert your finger all the way into the probe even if you feel a bit of pressure. There are tabs on the top of the probe and you will need to remove it by gently and firmly pushing your finger against a hard surface. Be careful not to twist the probe.
